In The Lottery, the villagers only care about their harvest but not about how others would feel if their loved ones were sacrificed.In today's world, many people tend to do things their way and may even do so at the expense of their fellows.This shows how people today are maybe just as cruel when it comes down to accomplishing a task no matter what the cost,not even if your friend may be harmed.
Tessie Hutchinson,the person chosen for being the sacrifice, did not think at first that she would be picked.She seemed happy to be at the lottery as she could take pleasure in killing another.However,she started complaining that it was not fair when her husband drew the slip of paper with the mark on it.This reflects the way people are nowadays.They only want to win but when they do not succeed,they try pushing their faults to other parties.
