The reason for his assault on the professor may be because of the termination of his scholarship. He was said to be obsessed and addicted to a game,"World Of Warcraft 3" and thus, may also have contributed to his worsening grades in school. In fact, the reason his scholarship was terminated was because of his lousy grades in school. He was already at his final year at NTU and would sit for his examinations in April, and his results would be announced by July.He could have had just sat for the exam and work as a part-timer or an odd job worker if his results were bad.
There was also news about a student who commited suicide last year.Apparently,he too was obsessed with "WOW".Could this game have indirectly caused the deaths of the individuals? Why is this game so attractive and addictive? From a student's point of view, it may be because "WOW" is an MMORPG.MMORPGs are extremely addictive as these are the types of games where players meet online and play together.MMORPG are so addictive and time-consuming because of the sheer fact that even if you are not playing, others are still playing. For example,a class of students play "WOW" and they constantly meet up to play with each other. There is this particular boy who rarely plays computer games. Thus, whenever the class meets to play, that particular boy would be left out because he does not play consistently and are not as proffesional as his classmates, therefore he is excluded. He would then want to catch up with the rest of his classmates and would eventually get hooked on the game.Another possibility is that the boy does not even like the game at all. However,he is forced because of peer pressure, the strong feeling you get when you are not doing what the rest are doing. The rest of the classmates may say that he is "uncool"or "boring" if he does not join in.( I am very sorry if the readers are unable to understand what I am saying.I have tried my best to relate to you my personal opinion.)
